This car was built for Hertz in the spring of 1966 and delivered to Broadway Motors, Inc. in Kansas City, MO on April 16, 1966. Hertz took delivery that same spring and began to rent the car out for business, pleasure and some circle-track racing use. About a year later, the car was sold to a local Kansas City dealer by the name of Joe Spradling who immediately sold it to Art Martinez from Wichita, KS. Mr. Martinez owned and maintained the car from 1967 'til 1978 when he sold it to Mark and Jeffery Zisk of Plymouth, MN. Mark and Jeff were in high school at the time and had to borrow the two thousand bucks to buy the car from their grandmother. Mark and Jeff shared and enjoyed the car for a couple of years before putting it away until they could restore it. It sat 'til 1987 when the restoration began. The boys got distracted shortly thereafter by things like marriage and children, and the half-hearted restoration project stalled until 1999 when a two year ground-up restoration commenced. Bill Smart who bought the car in July of 2005 has owned and maintained until 2017.
